Practical Pluto
I know, I know; Pluto is a dwarf planet (according to some #@^*!+%  Astronomers). That proclamation by a few Astronomers in 2006 has made not a smidgeon of difference to Astrologers OR Pluto.  He goes right along sniffing, digging, and exposing all the hidden stuff we'd rather stay underground.  As one who has Pluto in an angular house, ruler of another angle, and making a t-square to Venus square Jupiter, I can tell you that Pluto may be small, but is a huge force that reflects the havoc some of us create in our lives.

We all know that the planets do nothing TO us, right?  "As above; so below" is an ancient axiom that speaks of reflection, not persecution.  We do it to ourselves!  I'm not speaking about the pain we suffer when a loved one dies or the horrible sufferings of some cultures/peoples.  We can, possibly, never understand these.  I'm talking about when we go along in our lives unconscious of much else but our own selfish desires and dissatisfactions.

Whether we look at a baby growing into personhood or a century of humanity thriving with more knowledge, we can see the process of evolution at work in an organism.  As an organism grows, it makes choices; some good for the organism and some not so good.  Each choice has a bill or a paycheck.  This is called
Karma; as you sow; you reap.  This is so true and simple, I wonder why it's not specifically taught everywhere to every person on the earth at a very early age? It should be yelled from the housetops! I rarely use the word, "should," but this should is important.  There could be a story book made about Karma like the story of, "The Boy Who Cried, 'Wolf''" which is a great teaching story for children.

The practice of Astrology is a fine tool in understanding evolution, too.  As we learn the meanings of the planets and how they reflect our own humanity, we see that we have higher spiritual possibilities within each of us.

Starting with the Sun which represents Spirit incarnate in Man, we grew through the human mind and communication (Mercury), personal love and values (Venus), memory, habits, home, (Moon), motivation and energy (Mars), societal philosophy, law, and expansion (Jupiter), to duty, boundaries, and karma,  (Saturn). These were the conceptions of growth and evolution to ancient Man.

When Uranus came along in the 18th century, technology advanced as did the evolution of Man. Uranus is considered the higher octave of Mercury and being of the Mind.  In the 19th century Neptune was discovered and considered the higher octave of Venus being of love and values on a more Spiritual level. In the 20th Century Pluto was discovered and recognized as the higher octave of Mars with a decided power of life and death through humanity's development and use of energy.

In the meantime Chiron was discovered in 1977 and sometimes viewed as a bridge between Saturn and Uranus in the dawn of Aquarius.  I like to think of Chiron as the "wound" we all must suffer before we can be transformed by the evolutionary lights of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Ceres is the largest of the asteroids which are the bridge between Mars and Jupiter.  Ceres is depicted as defining the "great Mother" archetype.  This had to be absorbed into the soul of Man as a choice opposite the warring Mars before we could be "civilized" through the principles of Jupiter and Saturn.  Ceres was discovered in 1801, but named a dwarf planet by Astronomers in 2006.  We don't know what happened to make the asteroids, but I like the legend I heard years ago:  See
ANCIENT LEGENDS.

Back to Pluto co-ruler of Scorpio and Aries. We are at a crossroads in Energy production, use, and amount.  Our present resources are finite.  We are acting as if they are not.  I hope and believe that Pluto in Capricorn will find an answer to our problems with energy.  We have many years to develop and refine future energy.  Pluto in Capricorn can bring practicality to the energy situation facing the globe.

May we grow in light, love, and gratefulness;  Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto!  E PLURIBUS UNUM.

As far as individual evolvement, we can learn from our mistakes, dig deeper into our souls to find our truth, and be grateful for all the lessons learned and transformations we've been through. Some of us must play the phoenix role many times before we are liberated.
