SIGN of the Times
Willie Nelson
April 30, 1933
12:30 pm
Abbott, TX
When I was a preteen, Hank Williams was my favorite country singer.  I used to sit at the old-fashioned drugstore's soda fountain and play, Lovesick Blues, on the jukebox over and over again and when I got home, I'd practice yodling the song just like he sang it.

But, years later when I heard this fellow, Willie Nelson, I fell in love with his guitar, gentleness, and soulfull voice.  He is, truly, a legend in his own time.

Mr. Nelson, Willie, is going to be 75 years old this month. It's hard to believe, but he's older than me!   He's had a lot of productive years and that is shown by his chart ruler, the Sun, at the top of his chart. His Taurus Sun is conjunct Venus, ruler of THE ARTS, but t-square his ascendant and Saturn suggesting that what we first see in Willie is not always what we get when we know him well. We first see the Leo persona in his bearing, the Taurus gentleness in his soothing voice, and hear that haunting guitar sound.  Nobody, but nobody, can put over a melancholy song as well as he.  Consider,
Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground!  Whoa, it gets me every time! That's his Sun square Saturn; truly
The Blues in the deepest sense of the word.

Then, we note the YOD, Mercury/Saturn = Jupiter.  YODs mean total compromise, if we're ever to be fulfilled!  I don't know what Willie's compromise was/is, but I'd guess it has to do with impulsiveness, short temper, pickiness, and, needing to have things HIS way or the highway. That makes for difficult relationships.
(That's just a guess, Willie.) The Mars/Neptune conjunction with the South Node in the 1st can denote a drug or alcohol problem from a past life.

Let's all be thinking kind thoughts and a very Happy Birthday to Willie Nelson on April 30th.

Well, dang me, I just got finished reading Willie's autobiography ordered from Amazon.com and his birth chart is in the 2nd to last chapter and says he was born at 1:40am in Fort Worth. However, his sister writes in the autobiography that he was born in Abbott.  My birth time information came from Kepler data base who has his time at 12:30 pm.  His sister also said that Willie's mother's water broke about sundown so 1:40 am seems more appropriate than 12:30 pm or 18 hours later for the birth of a second child.  This kind of stuff drives me nutty.  Anyway, here's the Fort Worth chart below for all it's worth
Interesting, but I think this chart looks more like Willie than the other. Hmmmm, I guess he'll always be the "red-headed stranger" to many of us!
